The Season Two finale of Stargate Atlantis is titled "Allies," writer Martin Gero told fans at GateWorld Forum.
No details about the episode are available yet. The episode is expected to go before cameras in late September, and should air on The SCI FI Channel in March. Original Article here |

I'm wondering, is this going to be an "enemy of my enemy" kind of allies or will it be all the bad guys gang up on Atlantis kind of allies?
There has been speculation in the past that someone helped the wraith to become as powerful as they are, could this be the episode where we find out who that might be? |

Well about 2 months ago...i asked Joe Malozzi (executive producer sg1 and atlantis) at Gateworld about whether or not the Wraith had allies to beat the ancients.
He said "not willing to talk about that now". Well maybe now the writers and producers have came out of the closet and are going to introduce an enemy that have helped the Wraith in the past..now that they need help again ... their back!! Or.....If it is OUR ally, it is most likely a host of Asgard or Jaffa ships coming to our rescue when a massive fleet of Hives is about to take us out. |

Since 'Allies' will be a cliffhanger, I can't see it being on the Pro SGA side. More likely it'll be mysetery Wraith partners that'll be revealed.
Otherwise it could be a Genii partnership as a result of 'Coup D'Etat', Maybe they work together to take out more Wraith Hive ships. Perhaps the Genii world is at stake & this time they beg for the Atlantis teams help. Either way, I can't see it being Asgard or Jaffa. One they have been introduced into Pegasus then you can't really explain away the continued lack of Asgard prescence in Atlantis thereafter. It contains the most advanced knowledge & probably the key to saving their race. So it just seems to early to be bringing them in & then have them disappear into oblivion thereafter, Similar to the Hermiod scenario. That's why Daedalus doesn't have energy weapons in that it makes things far too easy. The same thing would apply if the Asgard came to town. Whenver there was a future problem then they could simply send word to Ida for help. Hopefully it'll be some nice new fearsome enemies that's brought into the fold. |

Surely the Melia hologram would have mentioned a presence other than the Wraith if it existed? Unless of course ?Wraith? is a generic name for a conglomeration of people opposing the Ancients?or she could have just forgot because the writers didn?t know they?d exist in ?Rising?.
Personally I want the Wraith rise to power explained and I?m hoping this will do it if they are enemies. We know they acquired Ancient knowledge and their language from somewhere, I doubt they could steal so much when they were in their infancy so either the Ancients? attempted diplomatic integration by giving them technology like they had humanity or somebody with Ancient knowledge gave them it? hmmmm, just me letting my imagination run away with me but that aspect is very puzzling to me. *moan* I can?t wait until the end of the season to find out whether they?ll be friend or foe, it?ll be amazing to see though and I might not even read any spoilers about it from now on just to add suspense. However, if it?s a friend I?d like to see their culture, their technology, and how they managed to survive the Wraith presence in the galaxy. It?d be brilliant to know Atlantis isn?t the sole bastion of freedom in the galaxy, especially considering nobody else has any real capability to fight back. |

Maybe it is the race who built that machine virus.

It may have been a last ditch effort on the part of the "good" guys. A metaphorical atomic bomb, supposedly only to be used as a last resort. Instead of using it, they decided to turn tail and run. That story could go anywhere... |

It doesnt seem very Humanitarian, on the Ancients' part, if they were willing to wipe out all Human life in a bid to save their own. The only problem is that the Wraith could still feed off the Ancients. So while in the long run it may have destroyed the Wraith, it would have brought more Wraith to Atlantis as they were the only surviving Ancients.

I agree, that's why I think it may have been an ally of the ancients who created it. They could have had it in their labs because they were trying to figure out a way to modify it to affect only the Wraith. I also don't think it completely outside the realm of possibilities that the Ancients weren't quite as alltruistic as we might think. How many races have we discovered that didn't have it's share of bad eggs. Even the Asgard have Loki... |

in the first episode rising the hologram encountered a race `on a dark world?.we know the wraith was later and an accident. also someone suggested that this race created the nano virus that only kills humans. so i was thinking that mabye this race went to war with the ancinets and humans that were colonizing their galaxy but were defeated or fled and now they?ve returned seeing the ancients gone and allied themselves with the wraith.

Found on Gateworld today:
QUOTE When Atlantis is contacted by an approaching hive ship, they are shocked to discover that it is carrying none other than Michael, the Wraith that they attempted to turn into a human. Though initially wary of his intentions, interest is sparked when Michael claims that the Wraith are being divided by a civil war and says that they want to use Beckett's retrovirus to turn their rivals into humans to feed upon. And in return, Michael and his Wraith Queen promise to turn over valuable technical information about their weapons and defenses. Soon after the team accepts the terms of the deal and agrees to provide assistance, Michael is joined on Atlantis by the Wraith Queen and her chief scientist. Once Beckett reveals that he has found a way to transform the retrovirus into an aerosol gas, the Wraith insist that he help devise a plan to disperse it inside their enemy's ships. And holding up their end of the bargain, they give McKay a treasure trove of information about Wraith technology that he needs to complete the job. Yet, as is soon discovered, this unusual partnership is too good to be true. While Ronon still harbors deep suspicions about Michael, others on the Atlantis team hope that the alliance will buy some time and help protect humans on other worlds from attack. Sounds not as exciting as I have already imagined in my mind. :D |

I think the allies will be the Wraith. A offshoot of the Wraith has been hunting the Wraith we know for years. Basically Wraith tell us that this sect of Wraith is far more dangerous than themselves. If they found Earth, no one, not even the Wraith and the Ancients themselves could defeat them. Something cool. So basically we would work with the Wraith for the majority of next season also, until we defeated the bad guys in the finale. Leaving a cool staredown between Sheppard and a head Wraith on the bridge of a ship. Then cut to credits. Even if the new enemy wasnt worse Wraith, just like bad bad people, like the Furlings or something. Would make my day.

why would the wraith allie themselves with humans, even if they have the retrovirus it makes no sense.also giving us tech which could be used against them it sounds a bit stupid to me.
