Shootnig the entire array and if they manage to regain control of the ship dealing with it later is the fastest and most certain way of stopping the wraith from whatever it was they were doing which was the priority. Ronon acted just fine....

All he saw was more and more Wraith beaming over to the Daedalus. If he was going to do anything, he had to act quickly.

Yeah, a one line revelation 'oh yeah btw...'. Not entirely sure of the point of blowing it up though tbh, I mean it doesn't hurt the show the travellers having one. Might have even made the Asgard ships seem a bit more formidable having the Orion-eske ship be the one to take them down.

Beckett said in an earlier episode that he didn't believe the Wraith would ever die from old age or natural causes. I had always thought that all of the Wraith were around during the war with the Ancients. So there is no continuity error. Invisible Painting is correct. The SGC gate can dial anywhere because it has no DHD, and therefore no built-in restrictions like the other gates. The Atlantis DHD is the only one in Pegasus that can dial out of the galaxy, because of that crystal.

Writers can make what they want work, but I think they just missed the mark on that one. » Click to Show Spoiler « Having just watched that part again, it's quite clear that the workstations in the gate room are largely intact - in fact you can see some of the LCD computer monitors on said desks are flickering but still active - so I think that a single crystal, housed inside one of those desks would be in a much more protected position during the explosion - besides, there are some partitions between the gate itself and the desk with the dialling device. Maybe the writers should have had it destroyed, but I don't think it's much of a stretch to see why a single crystal would have survived intact - especially when something like an LCD monitor also survived...

They arrived in Paegasus during the Ancient-Wraith war. The Asgard leader said the Wraith destroyed their intergalactic ships showing they had access to intergalactic hyperspace tech.
