After watching the last episode, "First contact", the new race we met we're very large individuals, like the wraith.

of Dr Jackson asking one of the large cyborg creatures who they really were. He said they weren't human or Wraith, and an Ancient would have known how to operate the technology.

Then the suit opened, and out stepped an Asgard. It looked the same, except it had some sort of mark on its head... dunno what... This should be awesome. Daniel's jaw basically hit the floor.

with a mark on his forehead, were some Asgards then enslaved by the Goa'ulds?

It could be some sort of military spec ops insignia, or a prison tattoo, or part of the interface device for the exo-suits... dunno really...

It will be interesting to see why they are so different since they have been made out as a possible enemy.

No, they're not the aliens seen in 'The Daedalus Variations'.

Those new aliens were an off-shoot of the Asgards. They had left our galaxy many years ago. They had no idea that the Asgard were dead. When talking to them, Daniel could not get through to them. they are not like the Asgards that we knew and loved. They were not even flinching at killing millions of humans with the stargates exploding. So did they leave before the Alliance was formed in our galaxy, or did they leave after it was formed and disbanded?

the Travelers once again, and yes, they are definitely I would say allies with us. They did not hesitate to take John and Zelenka with them.

you just cannot trust that guy, LOL! He was all ready to ram the Daedalus into the Attero device with all the Atlantis people on board.

I'm even more upset about it. Sorry for Rodney fans, but I would have definitely gone with Ronon. Rodney is too in love with himself for me. Even at the end with Daniel, "boy you can't compliment someone unless they are dying?" Rodney, "I'm working on it."

Asgard, yeah they were kinda my guess, as soon as I heard that there was some form of connection with them there really were very limited possibilities. So I guess it made sense. But it was just one of about 5 possibilities.

I like the Ronan McKay Keller triangle. It's the best romantic arc they've ever done for the fact that they're actively developing it, with Sam Jack ect they wouldn't really develop it. Just hint about it every year and a half. This has been good to watch over the last 5-6 episodes and I'm pleased with the outcome I don't think Keller Ronan works as well, a one night stand rather then a relationship almost. But the hints in Trio, and the relationship we saw in The Last Man just made me think they were so good together, they really fit in my opinion. Less so with Ronan. But one thing I like about it, in nearly every way typically speaking Ronan would out beat McKay on the girls front. He's hotter, physically stronger and more capable, is dare I say it less of a geek. But McKay beat him here, it's probably not something that sits right with Ronan. And that last scene was, so good to watch Painful in a way but great in another. I think that Ronan's tactics aboard the Daedalus though was probably the straw that made her say something, it didn't sit right with her him just shooting everything and I think that may have been a crucial element there.

As for the Asgard ships, shouldn't their weapons be better? They are Asgard, to my knowledge Traveller ships and weapons aren't that of the Asgard, even if they are a disbanded element of them.

But overall, very good. I liked it. Maybe most of the hype was about who the aliens are, and that took away from wanting to watch the rest of the story. But it was good.

I'm kinda sorry it ended - not ebcause I thought it was particularily well done or interesting... but ebcause it made them give some attention to Ronon. In these last three episodes Ronon received more character development than in the previous three years. I suspect he won't be getting the attention any longer, which woul be a shame.

Again, liked his banter with Rodney, but other than that didn't like the whole Asgard plotline. The Asgard are advanced enough to not need to resort into these techniques, IMO. Felt that was quite OOC for them and very much more the shock factor than any real reason for them to be specfiically Asgard.

I think when they left depends on when you believe the alliance was. If you believe the alliance was before the Ancients left for Pegasus, then these Asgard left after the alliance. I was suprised that Daniel didn't throw Thor's name out there, when he was talking about having Asgard friends.

There are two reasons why their ships weren't better. For one, they said that all of their intergalactic ships (meaning the ships they brought with them) had been destroyed, and they didn't have the resources to build new ones in Pegasus. That would support the arguement of Daf and I, that knowing how to build something doesn't mean that you can just start doing it. Also, the Asgard we knew and love had been advancing their military tech for the past 10,000 years due to constant military conflict. Meanwhile these Asgard were living in seclusion after getting their asses kicked by the Wraith. Now, that brings me to another point...

Now, the Asgard and the Ancients were defeated by the Wraith. I'm sure the Asgard were also technologically superior. The Wraith have a lot of military credibility.

Also, they threw in that the stargates are indeed made of naguadah. Which some people were wondering about.

I thought both of these were great eps. I like the Travellers coming to ask for help, and being the ones to provide it. I did not see that coming at all. Once we did see them, I expected it to be in their Aurora class ship. It should have been the fastest, but then again, that would have made the battle at the end too easy. Shep would have destroyed everything with the drones, and that would have been the end of that.

You are forgetting that the Travellers Ancient Ship was destroyed when their stargate blew up, hence they couldn't use that ship anyway.

I agree that both of these episodes were really good. I hope we will get to see more of these Asgards before the end of the season. I think that they are capable of being both allies and enemies, in the same grey area as Todd is.

I was rather surprised at how strong the Travellers ships were. On board everything looks like it has been stuck together with a piece of sticky tape, and to have such a strong ship as a result, it is rather surprising. I also thought that the Asgard ships were rather weak. You would think that these Asgards would have spent some time on upgrading their ships so it would be safer for them to travel out into the galaxy, but I guess not.

the Asgards sent two ships out to fight the Daedalus. Edit: Oops, it was the Traverler's ship, not the Daedalus that blew up two ships, (I think I need to wait until I have had some sleep before typing) and John and the Travelers destroyed janus' lab on that planet. That being the case, I was wondering how many of the Asgards did survive. We know some did because of the conversation between Daniel and Rodney at the end.

I was cracking up at Zelenka and the 15 year old, Mila? Watching those scenes, he says impossible and she says, no problem, and seeing John's and Zelenka's expression when they first got to the engine room, all I could think of was Star Trek and Scotty!

The daedalus crew was fighting to regain control over the ship and didn't shoot down any Asgard vessels. The traveller ship with Sheppard aboard destroyed 2 Asgard ships and a 3rd got away through a hyperspace window.

Maybe he need to grow some brain instead of only muscles. Instead of blowing everything up in the engineering room with his gun he could just have removed some crystals and hidden them. Think a little before you act. As soon as they regain control over the ship it could have been fully operational a lot fast just be reinserting the removed crystals. Instead they had to rebuild everything he blew up. Not clever.
