Hello Everyone!
This topic is for the discussion of rules etc. If you have a question DO NOT post it in the thread in which a moderator puts forth rules or concerns . Instead put it here. Threads pinned by the moderators are not forum topics to be discussed. (with the exception of this one.) They are meant to be read and obeyed. I've consolodated a few of the threads, I thought that so many pinned topics entitled rules might be scary...... although I'm not all that sure what I did was any better. (Hehe Thank you, Luna |

I see that sometimes a thread get locked 'suddenly'. I think it'll be nice to see a post in there with the reason why the thread was locked - to understand the reason and prevent it from happening again.
Sometimes, a thread gets locked and Im just stumped to see why... |

I usually leave a post saying why a thread was locked. Alot of times they're locked because the subject has been covered etc...... Today, it might just have been because I was in a foul mood and got sick of shallow conversation.

LadyLuna, Thanks for what you are doing for this forum. I had about lost interest and got tired of people getting away with sheer disrespect for fellow board members/ It seems as if you are cleaning up very nicely. Thanks alot for making this board once again pleasureable : )

I think he was talking about Hurricane's frech comment...
Joans - in case you don't know, this is just part of an inside joke from around New Years. She's not actually trying to insult the French. |

If a moderator closes a topic, it gets archived - or if it has been inactive for a few months.
The hot topic thingamabob is automatic and happens if a cerntain number of posts are posted with a certian time...... I think. Luna |

It's probably not my place to say this but I Mod for a large Harry Potter forum (around 70,000 members) and we've found several things that help to keep the peace (apart from one time when all hell broke lose and all admins were fired but we won't go into that)
1. Is a policy of 1 warning by private message, then a warning by email and then a ban if they still persist. 2. Strict rules on spamming. Not to down you guys or anything but I've noticed a reasonable amount of it here (*cries* I've spent too long as a mod, I can't help but look for it!) 3. Is correct spelling and grammar, we don't ask that you use them perfectly but the post should be readable and absolutely no net-slang. I don't know about anyone else but net-slang drives me insane and it takes my twice as long to decipher what is being said and *hangs head in shame* i tend to then get a, usually wrong, view of the person who is using it... It also makes the boards seem a bit more... erm... well nicer Anyway, like I said sorry if I sound like I'm critising because I'm not, Just offering my moddy opinions... *quietly slips away before she can get bapped* edit: You know Edit buttons are really useful, especially when you're writing a post about spelling and you find you can't spell yourself! edit 2 Edit buttons are also useful when you spell things wrong in your edit footnote... I have a question. Its nothing important but I thought I may as well ask out of curiosity. How many posts does it take to 'advance' so to speak? From airman basic to airman to airman first class etc?

Im not saying this to be an asshole or anything...but some of you people need to lighten up just a little bit you all get so offended to easily sometimes..most of it is in good fun..and if its not then it could be delt with but dropping a joke about the french, canadians, america, or anything for that matter is funny sometimes.
I know its not my place to say anything but i just think that if you cant take a joke then you shouldnt talk to people... I havent been here to long but i noticed alot of times things are taken more personnaly then they are ment... some people get offended over anything said about anything that the are in contact with... sorry but i just thought that i would say something. This is not ment to offened anyone.. |

actually i do agree with you but we have to enforce the rules so that when that one person who comes along and is offended very easily we have already stoped a fight and stuff like that........ basically there is always someone who will get offended by what you day .......just make sure it aint slander or liable.....

also because everything is written here... it is impossible to know the tone of voice which can be the differance between a joke and an insult. so a way of getting around this problem is if people just write something before their coment or something... For Example:
*sarcy* the french can't finish a bilding and they call it a marvel *end voice* ....OR.... [joke] (comment here {i can't think of one right now}) [end joke] it's really that simple... it just requires members to be tollerant and co-operative by taking the extra 10 seconds it takes to write those extra letters. |
