This was the best episode so far. I almost cried when Ford jumped into the Wraith beam
I am gonna miss Ford. Dex just isn't gonna be the same. They got rid of Ford too quickly; they should have kept him on for at least another season, give him some time to build up his character. He was so... pathetic, in this episode, it was so sad. Deep down inside he wanted to go home, but when Mckay shot him, it just killed him inside, being shot by his friend. And if I were Shepperd, i would have been more soft on Ford, and he might have come back. Tell him his friends wanted him back instead of shooting him... I'm gonna miss Ford in this season, and i hope they get him back sooo bad. There is no WAY Ronan will ever be able to replace him in my mind. I think Teyla and Dex are gonna hit it off. She was so eyeing him this whole episode |

While I didn't like Ford leaving the show I did like him in this episode. Definately a good mix of the old Ford and the inner demon inner.
I think the actor played Ronin fine I just didn't like the character much. I also hope he doesn't become so much of a combat monster he overshadows Tela. |

I'm not saying that I didn't like the Seige 3 parter. I thought they were great. In fact I thought that those episodes where the best yet in both SG-1 and Atlantis. However, like I said I don't like the fact that they can just go back and forth to earth whenever they want now. It just gives me the feeling that they are no longer on their own. It would have been great if the daedalus hyperdrives somehow became damaged while taking on the wraith. As far as writting goes that would have allowed the fresh supplies, more man power and the zmp to be delivered. However with the hyperdrives damaged there would be no way to go back and forth to earth so easily.

Well, I really enjoyed this ep, especially the scenes with Rodney & Ford. The acting performance in those scenes was outstanding. And they are developing Ford's (new)character in a really interesting way (now don't tell me he's not going to be on the show anymore!).
In fact, it reminded me of Anakin Skywalker, coming to the dark side. Only Ford's way is waaay more convincing. But what's with all those super-powers? I didn't see them during fight with this runner guy. If a normal human can match Ford, guess he's not that kind of a superman. |

deffer: strenth isn;t everything in a fight.. otherwise teyla will never have beaten the wraith or sheppard.. its also about technique adn skill
also ford isn;t superman.. hes hyper charged with adrenaline.. meaning hes pumped up and is much stronger than he usually is and dont; feel pain... beckett explained it in siege 3... the new guy is a special force op with 7 years of fighting exp vs the wraith... he comes from a society thats about 100 year more advanced than ours according to his flashback.. with his team using energy weapons... so i'm guessing hes the new military hardcore to overshadow teyla and put sheppard to shame... about him not flinching when getting cut.... i think its possible... i mean hes an survivor and has specialist training... could be possible |

So here is my question. In season 1 we learn that Sheppard awakens the wraith when he kills one of them. With this being the case, how come all the wraith were not awaken once Ronin Dex killed the first ones who were hunting him 7 years ago.
This is just a thought |

Yup, that's right. It was Ford himself who said he's a superman. But the drug is messing with his head, so he says a lot of things And in general: we have barely an opportunity to see hand combat in SGA, what we've seen in this ep. was like a bonus Putting Sheppard to shame? Well, I'm not sure about this. Don't forget that Sheppard is... training with Teyla! |

My prediction about Ford came true. He goes around killing Wraith now to get his fix. I like the new Ronon Dex guy. I loved the part where he and Ford were fighting in the woods. His background is interesting and he'll bring a new perspective to the table on how to fight the Wraith. Anyway, they need to focus on finding more freaking ZPMs! If they don't and the Wraith come back then they're screwed because Daedalus' shields and Atlantis' shields won't stand up to any long term Wraith bombardment without additional ZPMs to charge them.
McKay ruled in this episode as usual. He calls for a radiation suit and then he's smearing SPF 100 sunscreen all over his face. This post has been edited by Lord Sebek: Jul 31st 2005, 3:06 PM |

I'm reserving my judgement on Ronon Dex for later use
I agre with people about McKay. He's my favourite Atlantis character, but they're over doing it. They need to tone him down a bit. That being said, I loved the Ford-McKay ineractions. They were amazing. RSF was completely utterly amazing in this character and argh again for kicking him off the show jsut as he's becoming interesting! I really hope we see him again Click for Spoiler "you can still be super-fFord".. heh. All in all, t'was a good ep. I do think they had a bit of problem with the exposition this year. I mean, comparing to last year's and SG1's three parter, it pales. It's nott hat Intruder and Runner were bad, they're jsut... well, I've come to expect more from RCC, any way. Am I the only one who was reminded of First Comandment? I swear it was the exact same location in the exact same forst! |

ascended one: the otehr wraiths aren;t awake cos they are the ones that let ronan loose...
they are using him for hunting practice or training... so casualties while training are acceptable... the one sheppard killed is the caretaker for a sleeping hive.. shes prob linked to wake the others when she die... while the ones ronan kill are members of an active hive and not a caretaker |

This was a decent episode, not the best, but far from the worst. Ronon Dex seems like a decent character, but I feel like the writers are trying to fit him into an archetype that Kayla is already filling: the semi-primative tribal warrior. But maybe that is just the impression I drew from the character's behavior in this episode. From the flashbacks it seems that he comes from a rather advanced world (which makes me ask how they got so advanced without drawing the wraith's attention), so maybe his character will grow throughout future episodes into something more than Pegasus's Teal'c. I'm hoping whatever caused the look of suprise on the face of the wraith who couldn't feed on Dex leads to more discoveries about the Ancient/Wraith conflict.
Its sad Ford isn't going to be a main character this season, but if I recall correctly, didn't he get the part because he won a contest or something? I know he'll return in lost boys, and I don't think he'll be returning before that. With the way he escaped, and the spoilers I've read of lost boys, I don't think it would make sense for him to show up again before the team discovers his group, unless they are the ones who rescue him from the wraith. This season looks like it could be good. I've read a lot of people's posts that worry over the Atlantis Team having it too easy with access to supplies from Earth. I may be wrong, but I thought that the stargate wormholes were one-way, so that if Atlantis did send a wormhole to Earth, only the atlantians and their stuff could go through. I can't remember which episode I heard that in, and if I am wrong please correct me. |

I really hope we see him again did i miss an episode? when was he becoming interesting? i loved him in Rising and thought he was going to be a really good character then he just didnt do anything, and he was mean to Carson! i can't be standing for that! on the plus side i like him a LOT better than Teyla, but then that really wouldn't take much he was good in this episode but i dont like what they have done with the character at all, as i said i really liked him to begin with and now i can't stand him....usually i either love 'em or hate 'em, like marmite - the only exception being Jonas who i detested for obvious reasons to begin with but would quite happily have married by half way through Descent, and now can't remember why he ever annoyed me. so, what the hell went wrong with ford? |

This episode makes me wanna run away, real fast!
Ford and his superpowers. "It is the way of defeating the Wraith!" Yawn. What was this episode about? They could as well drop the whole story line around Ford. I must admit they have made more of the character than before, but it's all still far below what the series should be. Besides, why we need an Andromeda-ish character on the series is beyond me! I'm not bashing, I do love the series. That's why I express my opinion. |

Ronin Dex. They had a similar guy on Andromeda. I watched like five episodes, though!

QUOTE(jjpywakit @ Jul 30th 2005, 2:20 AM) HEY GET THAT RUNNER GUY SOME ACTING LESSONS!!! HE ACTS LIKE HE'S A COUPLE STEPS AWAY FROM READING FROM A TELEPROMPTER! NOT SG MATERIAL! GUYS, SEPARATE THE GUY'S ACTING SKILLS FROM THE SHOW PLOT! THE SHOW IS GREAT! THE EPISODE WAS PRETTY GOOD! THIS GUY'S ACTING SKILLS ARE HORRIBLE! THERE'S A BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A CHARACTER WITH CONTROLLED EMOTION LIKE TEALC/ MR SPOCK FROM STAR TREK/ CHACOTE FROM VOYAGER AND SOMEONE WHO EMOTES NOTHING! TEALC KEEPS HIS EMOTIONS IN CONTROL BUT YOU CAN TELL BY HIS MANERISMS AND FACIAL EXPRESSIONS AND TIMING WHAT HE IS REALLY FEELING - THAT'S WHAT MAKES HIM A GREAT ACTOR! THAT'S PART OF WHAT MAKES SG1 SUCH A GREAT SHOW - ITS ACTORS ARE SUPER! BTW, THEY WOULD BE FOOLISH TO GET RID OF RAINBOW - HE IS A GOOD ACTOR! SG1 KICKS BUTT! ATLANTIS HAS GREAT POTENTIAL! |
