QUOTE(Dr Vman @ Jul 30th 2005, 3:41 PM) I really really liked this show. However, I think it may have already jumped the shark. The thing I liked the most was that the Atlantis team was on its own completely cut off from earth. The big thing was that they were looking for a way home and a way to power the shield. Now they have both. It seems like to much was thrown in at once and the thrill is now gone. Anyone else feel this way? so far, I've liked the way it's been. You don't want this series to be another sliders/ Star trek Voyager clone where in the whole show, season after season, they try to find a way home, thought they might have, then it turns out they didn't. |

I like the direction they're taking Ford. It could be an interesting side plot. Ronan Dex... I'll have to wait and see. I haven't seen enough of him to really pass judgement. I like having someone who can "kick ass" on the team. We'll just have to see how they develop the character. I guess they figured they needed to imitate the mix of characters on SG1.

QUOTE(deffer @ Jul 31st 2005, 2:27 PM) Yup, that's right. It was Ford himself who said he's a superman. But the drug is messing with his head, so he says a lot of things And in general: we have barely an opportunity to see hand combat in SGA, what we've seen in this ep. was like a bonus Putting Sheppard to shame? Well, I'm not sure about this. Don't forget that Sheppard is... training with Teyla! errr sheppard was originally trained as a pilot.. so his hand to hand combat skill is pretty basic... even though hes training with teyla.. hes only been training for 1 year.. compare to ronan whos trained to be a special forces... which mean extensive hand to hand combat.. and the 7 years running and fighting wraith... i still say ronan can take all of atlantis team 1 and hand to hand and win... mckay is easy, sheppard is ok,, only teyla is a challenge..... |

I think Ronin is a great addition to the cast. I loved the martial arts scene with Ford - that was fun to watch!
Ronin's acting seemed fine to me. He conveyed stony wariness quite well. It's funny, because last season I really didn't give a hoot about Ford. I'm starting to really like his character now though. He's an interesting mixture of enthusiastic Boy Scout and mesmerizing strangeness. You just have no idea what he'll do next. |

This was definately a great episode. They did a fairly decent job of introducing Ronan, and it gives a slightly more insight into the wraith mentality. That they do have a training regime for fun. Hunting these "runners". I wonder, do they simply stun them, and let them loose again? Keep on chasing the same guy for years at a time?
And what was that look Tayla gave Ronan when she saw the necklaces around his neck? Perhaps one of them was from her village? I like the way this season is headed, however I'm still wondering how long it will take the wraith to figure out that the SGA really isn't gone. QUOTE(AscendedOne @ Jul 31st 2005, 2:08 PM) So here is my question. In season 1 we learn that Sheppard awakens the wraith when he kills one of them. With this being the case, how come all the wraith were not awaken once Ronin Dex killed the first ones who were hunting him 7 years ago. This is just a thought The other Wraith were awakened in season 1 because the "caretaken" wole them up mentally befure (she?) died. The wraith hunting Ronan simply died, so they sent more to hunt him. Afterall, he wasn't that big of a threat to them, and didn't know about a place called Earth that could feed all the wraith for hundreds of years. |

QUOTE(ha'tak @ Jul 30th 2005, 7:08 AM) Ya very poor charactor [even with his previous Andromeda prefomence] he never got me interested in his charactor unless he was beating the crap out of something. But the better moments were when Rodney and Ford were together. And when Rodney got caught in that trap dangling from a tree upsidedown. this guy had never play on Andromeda, his name is Jason Momoa. Before he was in baywacth and North shore. The big guy fom Andromeda was Keith Hamilton Cobb. |

I just watched the episode and I liked it. I am not sorry that Ford is gone. They writers certainly did not like him and it was dragging everything down. This character is kickass and I like it. I also liked the fight scene Sighfie. It was awsome. |

Ok, just saw the REAL intro for Atlantis (via my girlfriend's dad watching it when I was over last night). WOW. Definately missing out by downloading the American version ... can't wait to see the real SG-1 intro and not the crap that Sci-Fi is showing.

The least that TPTB or SciFi should do is to have a legal site to allow the download of the intro if you want to see it. The Atlantis theme was my favorite! |

Hey I am re-watching this episode again and I noticed something. At the 27 minute when Sheppard is getting back on the jumper to go and get Beckett the military person walking off the PJ is none other than......our fave super soldier Dan Payne. That is so cool that we get to see his face again. First time we ever get to hear his voice also. It so deep and yummy.

I saw it. Pretty good episode. Ford has become more interesting. I mean you can tell that he (Ford) is still in there, just that he's amped up and kind of twitchy. I'm glad they did this instead of just making him "Oh no Ford is an evil Wraith now!" man.
I think they'll get him back at some point. I think Super Ford will do some damage to the wraith, though risking atlantis at some point. |

I have to be honest and confess to what a lot of people have already said - Ford last year was dry and it really seemed like the writers forgot about him week in, week out. Yes, he was nice, but nice isn't why we like characters otherwise we'd all hate Rodney and that really isn't the case!
However, during this episode I loved Uber!Ford - and to be honest I wanted more of him and Rodney, who again was brilliant. "You can't kill an unarmed, upside down man!" The new guy? Well - the jury's out for me. I sometimes get annoyed that Teyla is just fighting-gal or soft-spoken-to-strangers-gal so I'm hoping they don't go down a similar route with Ronin. There's a lot of potential. Sometimes I think that people are loathe to like a new character if they are particularly attractive or possibly step into a role we already feel is fulfilled. I'm loving season 2 so far though so hopefully the writers will keep the bar up. |

David Hewlett was good, he's becoming the guy we all love to hate. I can see why the Air Force officers and Weir are getting annoyed with McKay. He is utterly irritating in this episode. But it did make for some funny situations, even though his obsession with the radiation makes you think he really doesn?t care about Ford.
The confrontation between Ford and McKay I didn't really like. Lieutenant Ford was really lame as a half-Wraith, at least that was my opinion. I know that many other people liked him, but I just can't see it. He seemed to have a god-complex and loss of memory, which could be a very dangerous combination but instead he was just weird. Ronin Dex is a great character. His caution and appearance is very realistic. The story of how he came to be there was also very good. A prisoner released in a forest so he can be hunted? It proves how evil the Wraith are, if you didn?t already get that. I also liked Beckett acting with Dex and the fight of Ronin and Aiden. This character pulls the episode from ?average? to ?kinda good?. |

I loved the fight between Ronan (the new guy..) and Ford. But Ronan is so much worse then ford. This episode was amazing, the second best to Duet.
