I thought that was an absolutely AMAZING episode. It had the right balance of everything from a bit of action to some politics and a great start to the finale episode next week!
Started off pretty funny as well with O?Neill shaving and trying to find out a crossword!! And then washing his phone!! Then when they went to the planet there was some good action scenes , where the death glider was shot down etc? The fact that Anubis is on his way makes me say ?Roll on next Tuesday? even though it?s the last episode, and good to know Weir is on our side and Kinsey has been shot down yet again!! In the end credits though you saw next weeks where the Prometheus was trying to take off with Alkesh, Death Gliders and X302?s all around was absolutely IMMENSE!! The bloody woman wouldn?t shut up so we could hear it!! IDIOT! Anyway that battle scene coming next week with Space Ships galore looks WAY better than Full Circle!! ?The Lost City part 1? = 10/10!! Even though only saw mini clip of immense space battle ?The Lost City part 2? = 10/10!!!! Lol!!! |

OMFG!!!!
This ep was.........wow, excitment, humour, anticipation, kinsey, Bra'tac, Anubis, The President and Dr Weir all in one Best quote ever Bra'tac "Has Hammond of Texas fallen in battle" ROFL!!! Kinsey "Mr Bra'tac", O'Neill "Master" The statue on the planet and the way O'Neill downloaded the knowledge AGAIN as the death gliders were firing at them. I also thought it was so great when the whole of SG1 and Hammond turned up at O'Neill's place seperately all drinking Guinness. Teal'c leaving at the end to try and get ships and warriors to help to defend Earth was quite moving as O'Neill said "I don't know whether i'll see you again" and then they hugged like brothers, some darn fine acting guys. Can't believe Hammond's been relieved of his command.......... This post has been edited by Jon The UK SG-1 Fan: Mar 2nd 2004, 4:14 PM |

Now that's a Stargate episode!
Wonderful!!! The teaser with Jack, Daniel and the crossword had me in fits - my evening was made right there. If the rest of this had been utter crap I'd have been in heaven, just from this alone. But...there was more!! Wow. Loved the team waiting for Jack when he came out of the elevator, the crossword bet, Jack trying it on...great stuff. The scenes at Jack's house - the sense of relaxed friendship and the banter between the team was both hilarious and wonderful to see. Oh, Jack, we have missed you. Burns is a Goa'ould! ROTFL! We got to see the team acting together - both offworld and on Earth - hurrah! I expected to hate Dr. Weir, but you know what? I really liked her. Surprised myself there. <g> Liked her so much in fact that if Hammond has to move on I wouldn't have minded at all if she'd taken over. It could have caused some interesting dynamics. Loved her standing up to Kinsey. Adored the homage to The Fifth Race in the briefing room when Jack spoke Ancient for the first time. I just...adored it, every minute. And you know what I love about it most of all? That I know that in the days and weeks to come, I'll watch it again and again and find something new to see each time, while falling over laughing at all the wonderful humour in it and celebrating the return of a certain Colonel. That these are only my initial impressions and there's so much still to explore in this episode. And that's what I call a Stargate episode. Albion (in a state of bliss right now....) PS - yeah, what on earth is the point of showing a trailer at the end of an episode if you're going to show another one over the top of it. SKY are weird. You think they're Goa'ould? Now that's what I call "Vintage Stargate". You had the right amount of comedy, plot and tension-back to how it used to be (including a full Jack episode). I can't believe that this was the penultimate episode of the season.
The writing is so good that you can almost feel the frustration of the team as Hammond is replaced and Kinsey gets his dirty little mits into the SGC. It looks like Dr Weir will be an adequate and fair replacement at this point, but we'll see. On a side note, does anyone else think that Dr Weir bears an uncanny resemblence to a certain member of the SGC? |

Well. What do I say? First off, I may just have made the biggest mistake ever! I was pondering the question, "Should I just wait and watch them both at the same time?", and I had decided yes, I should wait. But, at the last second, my...imagination won and I just had to see what happened. Big mistake, I really regret that now and the reason for that is this episode was AMAZING and I want part 2 NOW!! It really was amazing!
It was a return to the good old Stargate; danger, distress, action, adventure, courage...the list goes on and on. There is nobody that likes Stargate that cannot like that episode. It had something for everybody. Character Development, politics, action, humour, and even a little bit of shippiness. And...it had Jack. Thats probably more time than he has had collectively all season. There were so many good things about this that I have forgotten most of them. There really is nothing bad to say about this, it was truly that good. But there are a few questions. When did we start having a Defcon 4 and 5? This may just be a mistake on my part but any answer would be appreciated. Also, Why did the President suddenly change his mind about the SGC? Last thing: Did you see that little clip at the end with the Prometheus. That will be incredible. Full Circle..whats so special? Anyway this gets a definite 10/10!!! Best episode ever. Funnily enough, my favourite episode before this was "Fifth Race" which also had the Ancient Repository. Oh well. The coming week is gonna be hell! In case you can't guess, I cannot wait for the finale. Oh, and I hope the Prometheus gets blown into tiny little pieces next week!! This post has been edited by jaffagod: Mar 2nd 2004, 4:28 PM |

Great episode, 9/10 from me (10/10 is so ready for next week's episode) and I too want to see Part 2. The hanging-out scene before Jack goes all ancient was pretty cool, did Jack and Carter have a private private moment of course not. Dr. Weir is certainly a nice character, shame that Hammond had to get reassigned we all know what's he going to be in charge of but I feel that Weir is not the brightest of the lot, and Kinsey you think that he would get the picture when no one wants to play his game even a civilain Dr doesn't, and all I could say is, "Kinsey, see those ships yeah we made them up, if they attack your big head, don't say we didn't tell you so". Last scene was very sad, Jack saying his goodbye to Teal'c incase he doesn't make it and Teal'c was like "oh I will be seeing you again soon", but when they hugged, you just know what Teal'c was feeling, the what if we should lose Jack. Part 2 already!

Good basic story set up for part 2, nothing really impressive in this ep except I like the way they are handling the shift in personnel. Carter is looking very rough imho she is getting old I guess.
Part 2 will most likely be better, it will be a blast if it lives up to expectation. Calm down people btw, this ep was nothing but a teaser, it will certainly not go down as top 10 eps (not by a long shot) but it was probably a successful part 1. So stop saying it was amazing..it wasnt. This post has been edited by Gary83: Mar 2nd 2004, 4:40 PM |

I don't think he did. It was pretty much left up in the air at the end of last week as to what he'd decided. And if he had come down in favour of Kinsey, that floppy disk he got at the end of the episode probably made the difference. I'd forgotten Hayes. One more thing I really enjoyed about this episode was the fact that he was making changes to the SGC not from any negative reasons, as Kinsey and others have in the past. The usual 'dumb beaurocrat who has his head up his butt and knows squat about the real world' syndrome. But for positive reasons. He's actually thinking about it logically and with some reasoning. That was a nice change. Also laughed at the 'This is not a joke' note. I like Hayes. Maybe we'll see more of him in S8.
Speak for yourself, bud. <g> It's already in my top favourites list and I view it very much as an episode in it's own right, not just a teaser. It had too much in it that was good for that, for me. Albion This post has been edited by Albion: Mar 2nd 2004, 4:46 PM |

Gary, It may not have the best Part 1s in your opinion (although I disagree) it still was the best teaser for a Part 2!

Well what can I say. Great set up for the Part II. The annoying Kinsey rears his ugly head and it looks like our new interim SGC commander is seeing eye to eye with SG-1. Also nice to see a moment in which the team and Hammond are kicking back and relaxing. The suspense is building and I'm curious to see if the rebel Jaffa will come to our aid.
You know the episodes like these, everybody comes to the party. Looks like season 7 is going out with a bang. |

9/10! Great ep! Humor, tension, action....Great great!
One question though: Why is Kinsey so opposed to this? I mean come on: You'd think even he would not quite want to be blown out of the sky. It's so strange. |

He's an idiot? <g> Must admit I had to laugh at his contention that SG1 had made it all up just because they suspended gate operations. That is just so Kinsey. What a complete moron. Forgot to mention earlier that I also loved the initial briefing. With Jack's "What mission?" and Daniel tactfully trying to clue him in, only to be told he was explaining in far too many words. LOL! And did anyone else grin at Hammond starting the meeting with "Glad you could join us." Considering Jack's absences from the screen this season, that one just struck my funnybone. Daniel: I promised Sam I wouldn't help you. Jack: Well, this will just be the one thing she doesn't know. Albion |

Jack: "Oh, for crying out loud, that's Dorentous!"
(Everyone, including Brat'ac, looks at O'neil strangely) Jack: "......what?" Daniel: "You just said Dorentous." Jack: "Did not." Daniel: "Did too..." Jack: ".....Dorentous, what is that?" Kinsey: ".....Latin?" Weir (staring at O'neil, yet saying the following words as if pointing out the stupidity of Kinsey) "No, it's not." ROFL. That was TOTALLY a take-me-back to when Jack had the information the first time, so many funny lines ;p All in all, just as I have been predicting for weeks due to the low budget's of the last few episodes, they went ALL OUT on this one, and it was impressive :-) Jack and Sam moments, Jack/Daniel sarcasm, Anubis, the team actually BEING together, *wipes a tear off his face*. Not to mention, Wier is a total hottie :-) This post has been edited by Vesian: Mar 3rd 2004, 1:44 AM |

Jack: you are so shallow...
Daniel: oh, please! Teal'c's like one of the deepest people I know. I mean, he is so deep. common, tell 'em how deep you are, you'll be lucky if you understand this. Teal'c: my depth is immaterial to this conversation Well, Jack's participation was a little disappointing. I got the impression that they were trying to make up for the jokes jack couldn't tell in the last 2 eps. There was some good stuff going on there, but it was overdone. However, this ep did make up for it. Seeing the ancient?s repository again was cool, although I can't imagine much worse a scenario. I really hate this Kinsey thing. He's been trying to boss people around for too long, and it's getting old. He didn't even try to be subtle; he just started right off the bat with a threat. I want to know how anyone in their right mind could get Hammond out of there. No one outside the SGC could pick up where he left off, and any idiot could see that. It will be interesting to hear the real motives behind it. 9/10 Similarities between burns and Goa?uld: Really old, try to control all the humans they can, diabolical schemes, have the power or at least until those under them unite, extremely arrogant, above the law, have utilized devices to control the sun. What else? |

Beautiful episode. I give it 4 stars.
Kinsey. I love to hate that guy. Only he would be a big enough jackass to think we we're making up a Goa'uld attack. If we're lucky, he'll die in next weeks ep., or get mamed by some wild animal. But he is a good villain, I'll give him that. No Jack/Sam stuff. Big relief there. I liked the scene in Jack's house; just sitting around, drinking beers, having a conversation. It makes the characters seem even more real, and I like that. Good action sequence. Once again, the jaffa use dumb tactics and give away suprise by landing ships first instead of going through the gate. I liked the camera angles too, showing a first person view of one of the guys firing his gun at a glider. Very cool, reminded me of a video game. One question: it seemed like the guy with the stinger launcher(or whatever it was) fired like 5 times, but only hit once. WTF is up with that? Don't really care too much for Weir, as she doesn't like the military. Plus she wanted to negotiate. Stupid. Can't wait for the next ep. I want some cool X-302/fighter jet vs. DG action. Also want some kickass mothership battles, that'll be sweet. And we can't forget the ground campaign. You can't win a war by just the air, so hopefully that would be included. |
