Sigh: The Weir-Sumner kiss is either a joke by Higginson-Wussname or a promotional piccie meant to confuse the fans, like that Carter-Daniel kiss in Ressurection.
Ha, looks like I'm the complete opposite this week from most people. I found this episode too cheesy, too... I don't know. It didn't try to do anything I felt. From one side, you have McKay in a storyline that could have been cute but was missed IMHO - also I'm quite surprised. So far, when Stargate did a cross-person episode, they really put effort into body language and mannerism - I'm thinking Holiday, Jack, Teal'c and in the end also Daniel adopting each-other's body language to make it belivable - or Lifeboat where MS changed it - reliably. Now I know DH is a fantastic actor, and he more than often proved so in Atlantis. But I found the entire Cadman-taking-over sequences to be too much exaggarated, too much drag-queen - too much a guy trying to imitate a woman, and I'm quite sure Hewlett could pull of something much, much better. Ronon Dex... sigh. I thought they brought him in because Ford wasn't working. What's with the silent warrior bollocks? So far they've done all cliches, no real substance. As I said in a couple of threads, when cliches are in the story, and are well written, I don't mind. But you can't build a character on cliches. Not if its to be a substential, working character. I hope they give him some lines, I hope they develop him a bit more than the silent-warrior -alien schtick, and please, please, please, I hope they stop showing us how "tough" he is. We got the point. No point making Atlantis into Hercules or Andromeda. That being said, it did have its moments. And as the saying goes, "A picture's worth more than a thousand words"... Ha, I wonder just how popular McKay-Beckett slash is gonna get... *snigger* That was such a heart-warming, wonderful kiss, teehee. (including Rodeny's face afterards and the mannerism that "after that, kill me for all I care!" |

I loved this episode, but then i always love episodes with lots of beckett or Mckay and this one had both, my dream come true. Hewlett doing the duel personality was hilarious (i think some of his female gestures were a bit overdone but if anything that just made it more funny).
Not sure what to make of the new guy though, he just seems to sit around and look sulky i suppose 7 years of being chased by the wraith wouldn't make you a particularly cheerful soul, but all he seems to do is fight, fight some more, look sulky and eat (with appalling mannors). Anyway back to the more interesting people; I feel very sorry for poor Zelenka the way his hair is all ruffled when he is first on screen, probaly from the stress of tinkering with a wraith dart off world and having two peoples lives in his hands (don't ask me how it straightens it self out in the wink of an eye but the initial ruffle is very cute), the way he jumps like mad when the spark comes off the Dart and when Mckay calls him Dr. Fumbles McStupid in front of Sheppard, Weir and all the little science people around, the poor guy tries so hard as is clearly very clever but Rodney always shouts at him and makes out he is stupid. How does Zelenka put up with Rodney? I love the scene where Rodney is Fumbling through his date and Beckett is watching in horror, and then cadman takes over Mckays body, kisses the botanist and leaves and Mckay-Cadman and McKay start argueing with her/himself in the corridor it is so Hilarious. But predictably my favourite scene was the Beckett/McKay-Cadman kiss, more for McKays reaction to it than for the kiss it self. I give this episode a 9/10 for concentrating on many of my favourite characters, being very funny, giving Carson Beckett a love interest and only giving Teyla about 5 lines, in three short scenes, espicially given the fact that in one of them she gets beaten up. (it would have got 10/10 if she hadn't spoken at all, and just got beatten up.) |

Ok I SOOO loved this episode. I was not sure the first time I watched it, but I was half asleep when I saw it. I rewatched it and I died laughing. I was in tears in places. It is just stupendious. Someone said they thought Hewitt over acted the female parts but I don't think so. It is a woman in a big clunky mans body. What she is telling the body to do in graceful movement actually looks clunky and ackward in a mans body. It was very funny.
My fav scene was the one in the hallways. Where they fight for the control over McKays body. The rock paper scissors scene. I was just falling over in tears. Also the scene just before McKay has his first seizure and he is yelling and that HUGE ball of phlegmn flies out and sails past the camera. I was like EUUUU! Next thing he falls over in seizure. I loved this episode the best of all Atlantis eps ever made. Very nice. |

She enjoyed being in a man's body. It became undeniably clear when she kissed Rodney's date like Mr Charming. Yes she had an opportunity to toy with fantasies, and she did. Funny you should mention it, that's the last scene I re-watched a minute ago. It was even topping Cadman's stunt before towards Rodney's date. Because it was an authentic situation and the two were bantering and fighting at the same time. All in all, there was lots of interaction in this episode, which is very promising. The story was flat. Boring as Runner. I hope they'll get something to do soon. This post has been edited by ted_simple: Aug 9th 2005, 8:55 AM |

Plus he's way cuter. |

Well, I thought this episode wasn't bad. Okay, technically, I've seen this before. They'd done something similar on other sci-fi shows. Take any of the ST series; either the swapping of bodies or transporter malfunctions, it's been done before.
However, that aside, I love Rodney McKay !! Gosh, he is such a prat. I love him. And I just don't know why Zelenka hasn't hauled off and slugged him yet. Talk about restraint. I do like the relationship between McKay and Zelenka. They play off each other very well. Ronen Dex ? He's certainly the strong silent type. I like the dreadlocks. Although, having seen him in only a couple of episodes, I really don't know what to think about him. I guess at this point, I'll let the writers develop his character more to see where he goes. At this point, he seems to be playing the Worf or Teal'c equivalent. All in all, I'd say this episode was a 6 or 7 out of ten. it's not that it wasn't fun, it was something I'd seen before. However, watching McKay kiss Beckett was most definitely a TEN out of TEN !! Now, that was hilarious !!! |

I must say this episode was crap. I admit i laughed at some points but thats all i did. Ronan seems pretty ***. Whats with the wooden character harbouring no emotions in this show? It worked for Judge but not for Luttrell and this new guy. I wish they would quit making focusing on character like these and have more Ford and Genii (preferbaly with Colm Meany).
Also the gay kiss. Urgh disgusting |

QUOTE(axg @ Aug 12th 2005, 10:20 PM) Well the german stuff was not much nor funny.. "Ich wusste, dass das passiert" -> "I KNEW this would happen.." for the zelenka part, no clue For Zelenka go to the thread below: Zelenka Thread The German Scientist says "Das ist wie bei der Geburt meines Neffen" when pulling out the Wraith transporter box. This translates as "This is just like my nephew's birth." Then when the explosion occurs, she says "Verdammt, ich wusste dass das passiert!" This translates as "Damn, I knew this was going to happen!" This post has been edited by JamesyBHOY: Aug 13th 2005, 10:21 AM |

I like DH better and better with each Atlantis episode. That guy is brilliant! I hated McKay in SG-1 but here in Atlantis he's a true pearl
The episode was really cool but with this and some other Atantis episodes I'm starting to get the feeling that Stargate is reproducing itself. "The Intruder" seemed to be a crossover of "Entity" and "Tangent" (both: SG-1 season 4) and "Duet" really reminded me of "Lifeboat". This post has been edited by Ilzy: Aug 14th 2005, 4:47 AM |

After episode 13 in season one this has to be my favorite episode. I almost died when McKay called Zelenka fumbles Mc?stupid. I have rewound that part again and again.
I don?t think that the acting when Hewlett was supposed to be Cadamn was over the top, it was supposed to be funny. I wish Zelenka had a bigger part in the show. He is now my favorite after McKay. They put Becket in the opening credits, they should add Zelenka as well. And Zelenka is WAY more interesting than Becket. Someone said why doesn?t Zelenka punch Rodney for being such an ass to him; come on, McKay could kick his ass. That?s why he doesn?t slug him one. I give this episode 10/10 because I also like Ronan, in fact (I know this will get people going) I like him better than Teal?c already. I am so worried that when SG-1 ends they will pull a Worf STNG to DS9 move, and put Teal'c in Atlantis. |

Great episode! It gave us a chance to see Rodney as something than a scientist, and broadened his scope as an actor in attempting to portray how he would act as a woman. I was a little concerned near the end of the episode that the Atlantis team would be forced to kill off the female soldier's conciousness so that Rodney would survive. As for the kiss, well... got to do something for the slashers.

Did anyone notice that when Weir talked to Ronan, she refered Sheppard as Major instead of Colonel or Lt. Colonel.

I don't think Ronan Dex is meant to be like Teal'c...i thouhgt that was why Teyla was in the series, as a helper, person to be able to negotiate and help to form alliances.
This has to be one of the best episodes i have seen, mostly for the comedy of it and i was glad to see so much of beckett, that was pretty good. We got to see how Mckay is awkward with females and i guess we also see how he hasnt had much experience with them...but i think some of it could have been left out but i guess this was meant to be like a comedy episode. I didnt want to know who slept in the nude and who didnt...sorta reminded me of an australian movie where 2 sexes swapped bodies and they got to experience being the other gender. So what im wondering.....does she have a crush on beckett and will we be seeing more of her and will anything happen between her and Beckett? He deserves some happiness...it was pretty funny though. And i think she knew what she was drinking when Mckay was drinking so much to loosen up. |

Okay, *rubs hands together and takes a deeeeep breath*
AWEEEEEEEEESSSSSOMMMMEEEEE! Definately my favorite episode of all time. The kiss was a little disturbing, I hoped he (well, she) wasn't going to do it. But I'm glad they put it in because heck, if I loved a guy, wasn't religious, and was stuck in a guy's body about to most likely die, I would've done it to--disturbing though it may be. Even disgusting as it may be. You just have to see it for what it is--a chick kissing a guy she likes, and forget about her being stuck in Mckay. @___@ Anyway, that's not why I like the episode! I thought that David Hewlett did an incredible job in that episode. Astounding! It was so much fun to watch him. It was very believable and it was funny. I admire him as an actor, for the great job he did. If he wasn't such a good actor, that wouldn't have been nearly as interesting. It burns me that they didn't do anything with that episode afterwards! Where did Lieutenant Laura Cadman go? It's like she fell of the face of the Earth...
