Quality episode. Not as good as SG-1 this week, but definitely a big step above Intruder.

I agree. His acting doesn't seem very good... he's certainly a good looking guy but it seems like that's the main reason they put him on the show. If she shaved he'd just look like some college frat boy.

Ya very poor charactor [even with his previous Andromeda prefomence] he never got me interested in his charactor unless he was beating the crap out of something. But the better moments were when Rodney and Ford were together. And when Rodney got caught in that trap dangling from a tree upsidedown.

Hopefully the guy playing Ronon (I haven't bothered to memorize his name yet) gets his act together as the season progresses. But so far it looks like he's just there to kick some ass.

The actors that played Tyr in Andromeda & Dex in Atlantis aren't the same person. They are both played by totally different people. Have been a little disappointed by 'The Siege III' & 'Intruder' so far, However this ep brought it back up a level again to where it should be. I'm not sure about Jason Momoa's acting skills, I'm not an actor but he seemed pretty good to me. I think I'm gonna really like this new guy, especially if he continutes to not take BS from anyone & kick ass. Good to also see the team getting back out in the field together. |

Personally I didn't like the new character lol, and his traps and fighting was too predictable. It made Sheppard and the other military guys seem like their skills were on vacation.

Well, if I had to describe this episode in one word, I guess it'd have to be... "Limited".
I don't like this new guy, he's just a "pretty boy" with no acting skills from what I've seen of him so far. He doesn't even look that pretty yet. Also, from what I understand, the wraith started feeding off of him, so shouldn't he have had some of the enzyme too? Which means even if he didn't have loads, he should've still needed it to survive right? The scenery wasn't that good, I don't really like jungle places for the whole episode, no matter what TV program it is. I'd have to say the best bits were with Mckay (as always), however this may be my personal bias, as David is just a brilliant actor and my personal hero The whole episodes plot was just stupid in my opinion, there was no substance there and i doubt that anybody could have their back cut open that deep and that close to the spine and not even flinch. So... I guess thats it and i don't really need to sum it up, as I've always done it. |

I'm already starting to become intrigued by Ronon as a character, you can tell he's got a lot of his past to put behind him and to catch up with. Very Teal'c like in essence but different. The fact that he could puch around Ford with him being on that super enzyme shows how strong and experianced he is after running from the Wraith for SEVEN years. What a life! I am also interested by the fact that he was able to stop the Wraith by feeding on him. Why is this so? Is it a matter of will? Or something else inherited by the Ancients in his blood? Hopefully we will see this topic related upon in an upcoming episode. Excellent all in all. As aforesaid, I'm glad the team is out in the field again...and it should get quite interesting with Ford. I thought the new guy was great... both as a character and as an actor.. and the fact that he's military and has been hunted by the wraith for 7 years with a tracking device and still alive... just proves his skills. He's not some push over so yeah he would be a great fighter and would make us look dumb and overpower us.
And its not necessarily the same as Ford's situation.... the reason Ford is the way he is..is because the wraith feeding on him got killed...and never detatched itself from Ford.. so he got an OVERDOSE of the enzyme. In the flashback we saw of Dex's past of the wraith feeding on him... it stopped and detached himself. Reason why he did? We do not know yet.. Im guessing it sensed something in his dna that the wraith are unable to feed upon him... and others like him.. become.. "Runners" It could be something similar to the episode "Poisoning of the Well" in where they found a drug to kill the wraith who feeds upon someone with the drug.. or maybe he might be more along the lines of the "Original people" who became the wraith after mutating by the bug we saw that attached onto Sheppard. We know the wraith were once human.. and were created or transformed... maybe Dex's is from that original lineage as well as the other runners. Who knows.. This episode showed a lot more of David Hewlett's acting abilities as Rodney McKay! It was great to see Beckett go off world too in the middle of a place in which we know the wraith are about to come to.. |

I actually liked the new character and thought his acting was fine. I know actors and he did a good job. I'm looking forward to him being on the show. I guess they had to show that his planet was destroyed to explain why he becomes part of Atlantis. As far as him having the enzyme, from the flashback, the wraith tried, but couldn't feed on him, consequently, there was no enzyme inserted. There is something in this character's DNA that makes it so the wraith cannot feed on them.
I have loved McKay, but he's getting on my nerves! This episode he was just way too much, me, I, me, I, and not about the rest of the team and what is happening. I know he's not militarily trained, but come on, they have to be giving them some kind of trying in order to survive when they go off-world. He's pathetic, and it's no longer funny anymore. Loved Beckett, but he's great. I'm so glad he's part of the opening credits now. |

I really really liked this show. However, I think it may have already jumped the shark. The thing I liked the most was that the Atlantis team was on its own completely cut off from earth. The big thing was that they were looking for a way home and a way to power the shield. Now they have both. It seems like to much was thrown in at once and the thrill is now gone. Anyone else feel this way?

Well, the show still has some aspect of being 'stranded', only it's the fact that wormholes can only be opened one way, and the Daedalus takes 18 days to get here to there.

Why. It opens up all kinds of opportunities. Their supplies would not last much longer. Now they have a good supply access and can explore much more now. They can get into some dangerious situations. It will be very exciting.

As soon as the wraith figure out Atlantis is still there... Then they will be in trouble again without more ZPM's... From Siege Part 3 we saw when the ships were bombarding the shield from space.. McKay said the ZPM would be dead in days... So thats all it would take for us to be whiped out.. I dont think they would fall for the whole smoke and mirrors trick again. We need more ZPMs... one on Earth to power gate... One on the Daedelus (for better shieldsand need be to travel to earth if necessary...say to get something too big to fit through gate) and 3+ for Atlantis... since it runs on 3.. and without all 3 we haven't even scratched all the possibilities of the city's capabilities... (like some Zelenka found out at the end of "The Intruder" that they didnt mention in this episode So no I do not think the thrill is gone. |

Yes. Before they had limited supplies and so have to be very conservative. Choosing when and how much they could expend those resources. Now they have a chance to go out and explore. I was just about to write what Zelenka said but you beat me to it Nemisis.
We know there is lots of juice stuff out there. Don't forget when they were planning to self destruct Atlantis in "Seige part 1" they tried to download the ancients data base but it was MASSIVE. Now they can explore what is in there and learn. It is going to be good. They are just getting started. |

Not only do they have more supplies, food, medical, equipment and technology, but they have an influx of people. Remember, everytime they face the Wraith they have lost people, both military and scientists. Now they can get more people to Atlantis. It might take them 18 days on the Daedalus, but they can get there.

Personally I think there are plenty of thrills yet to be had on SGA. Frankly I wouldn't have bought it if the Wraith hadn't come for Atlantis when they did. Constantly running into them and trying to beat them in individual battles would get not only boring but unbelieveable. The Wraith aren't as advanced as the Ancients but they are more advanced than us. I would've found it implausible that as advanced as they are, they wouldn't get wise to our tatics. It could've been the same MO every week which would get stale, so I'm glad they did it how they did.
I, also, found McKay kind of grating, which is saying a lot because I love him. David plays him so well. Although, I do give him lots of credit for shooting Ford. Not only did he shoot but he shot a friend and he didn't miss! That right there floored me. I tend to think that Rodney only gets that way when he's really been pushed and Ford was pushin'. Plus the whole UV radiation thing must've really been weighing on his mind. Just goes to show how obsessively paranoid he can be. On the whole, I liked both Atlantis and sg-1. They're too close to call and I haven't rewatched them enough to decide which one I like better. |
